"The Roccia Vet is a style originally found in the Diemme hunting collection, that has been updated with lighter and more comfortable soles for city use. This style has great ankle support and padded inner lining which gives stability and a comfortable and protected walk. It is featured here in a full grain leather from Italian tannery Conceria Emmedue.
Full grain means that the natural grain of the leather and the full thickness of the leather is intact. The strongest part of a hide is the surface part that sits directly underneath the hair of the animal, as this part has a tight grain pattern that gives strength and resistance to moisture. The more common and less expensive alternatives would be leather splits such as suede and top-grain, where top-grain is the upper half and suede is the inner half, or corrected leather which can be a leather where one uses the full thickness of the leather but where the top surface has been sanded to remove imperfections and achieve a uniform finish. Full grain leather gives strength and breathability that leather splits or corrected leather can not match, and full grain develops a natural patina that can not be achieved with other leathers.
The sole being used is a beige middle sole with Vibram Begonia Rubber sheet. The mid sole is an expanded rubber compound to give lightness and flexibility, whereas the Vibram undersole is in rubber for improved durability and traction. This sole has excellent slip-resistance on floors, but can be slippery on ice due to its linear pattern.
The inner lining is made of cow leather instead of pig leather for increased comfort, and the footbed is of vegetable latex with a leather upper lining. A gusseted leather tongue with vegetable latex padding will keep water from permeating the top of the boot, and the padding creates a soft cushion over the instep.
All components, including hardwear and laces, are italian made. Handmade in Onè di Fonte, Italy."
