Lafayette x Staple Cube Jacket
Japanese brand Lafayette collaborates with New York based Staple Design for the Spring/Summer 2012 season.
"The inspiration for the collection comes from the iconic avenue of the same name in New York City. I think the landmark that utterly defines Lafayette is the Astor Place Cube (actually, the sculpture is called “Alamo” by artist, Tony Rosenthal). We abstracted the sculpture and created a textured pattern out of it. We then worked with the Lafayette Japan team to create some pieces where the patterns could be applied.
T-Shirt graphics were also inspired by the man for which Lafayette is named—Marquis de La Fayette.
The Lafayette x Staple Spring capsule collection can be found in Japan at Lafayette and their select accounts. In the US, it’s exclusively available at Reed Space."
