The Archive Research Project (A.R.P) is a groundbreaking collaboration between Umbro and award-winning designer Aitor Throup. It sets out to utilize Umbro's rich heritage and archive to offer up something very modern through research and design innovation.
A.R.P is the coming together of the past and the future; reinterpreting classic Umbro designs in a way that shatters the mold of previous construction methods. This is classic football tailoring for the 21st Century.
The upper sleeve construction of this piece incorporates even more shaping into the shoulder area than the original. It converts the 'running diamond' tape from a purely decorative component into an actual piece of the construction pattern. The cuffs and hem - traditionally constructed from a knitted rib fabric - are made from a super fine power-mesh making it extremely lightweight, breathable and comfortable. This translucent material is also used to veil the inserted diamond tape in a sophisticated way.
